Welcome to another podcast of Struggling Well. We hope that you are doing well. today and we are getting closer and closer to Christmas Day.
We are.
So, Jimmy, there's some things that God has laid on your heart. we both have been talking about the impeccable timing of God and as we are almost to the day that we celebrate Christmas and I don't think that's the actual day.
No, it's probably not, but it has become that. And we do know there was a day when he was when Christ was born. and I find myself at times with the world we live in today of all of our communication skills and avenues of communication, 24/7 news, it just seems like it never ends. Tik Tok, YouTube, all these different platforms.
Why did Christ come before all that? And I know, you know, I mean, it would seem to me like you could broadcast these things so much easier today than you could back in the first century. And yet, scripture says in Galatians that it was in the fullness of time that God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who are under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. The fullness of time.
In God's mind, that was the impeccable timing. That was the right time to send Christ to this earth to be born Emmanuel, God with us in human form.
And we've got to look back and look all the way across scripture. And are you going to
Well, yeah. I mean, I think all throughout the here's the part that we need to be reminded. I need to be reminded of this was not like a oh my goodness, God said we better do something because man sinned.
You go all the way back to the garden when Adam and Eve chose to rebel against God. Go this plan was already in place.
And so then throughout it all, the times when it seemed like all hope was lost that something was going to interfere, Satan was going to interfere with God's plan, you know, the Israelites get sold into slavery for 400 years. They're in Egypt and seems like everything is been sidetracked,
right?
And yet at a certain time, God used Moses. And even that story Moses goes 40 years being raised in Pharaoh's home. Then he gets 40 years in the desert. And then finally he goes God goes, "I need you to go save my deliver my people." So you've got that. You've got all the prophets who foretold particularly Isaiah hundreds of years before Christ came, he told of this one who would be sent who would be the Messiah. God's timing all along was working. And then Here's the part, you know, we can go, I don't know, days, unfortunately, without reading God's word. How about for 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament, between the prophecies of Malachi and then all the way through to the birth of Jesus, there's silence. There's nothing from God. And I would think that there were those who thought all hope is lost.
Yeah.
And yet, it was God's impeccable timing all along. that led to that day when Christ was born.
You know, if you take the time to look at the different events from Genesis through Revelation and you really read it, you'll see that timing is everything. And today in our world, we struggle with God's timing. It's either he's allowed something to happen too soon or he's not done what we think he should do in the timing that we dane is the right timing. But, you know, from the garden redemption. The story of redemption began. We see it. You mentioned it before. Israel need to needed to be redeemed. The story of their redemption begins. Then going to Mary and Jesus' birth, his death, everything was about timing. You look in the book of Esther in chapter 4:14, she came into that story and her uncle, I believe, says for such a time as this impeccable timing without her responding to the timing that God had. The Jewish people would have been killed. Then the Israelites would have been killed. Then in Ecclesiastes, the idea of timing is everything is beautiful in its time. That's in God's time. It is beautiful. And I know that I wrestle with timing a lot. I don't wear a watch. I did for a while, but the battery went dead. And it's a beautiful watch. And I guess I could wear it because I never really looked at it in terms of a timekeeper. But I know that I push against God's timing. I want him to take care of the hard stuff right now. And some of you that are listening are even though this is a season of a supposed season of great joy because everyone seems to be celebrating and singing and wearing festive clothing and maybe your life doesn't feel like that right now. maybe there are issues in your maybe you're soul tired. You're just exhausted physically. soul level, mentally, spiritually, however, and timing means nothing to you because you're just you just want something to happen. It's like God do something. What would it be like? What is it like when we trust in his impeccable timing? And when I look at scripture sometimes, I'm like, "Oh, man. 40 years. No, 400 years of silence. Oh, God, no. Please." But his timing was what brought everything to fruition at just the right time.
Yeah. And so I'm going to throw this out. doesn't it make sense then if all those things are true? And they are that the timing of his second coming is also impeccably timed.
Yes.
Cuz we wonder sometimes, okay, God, why are you letting this go on? Why are you letting the world go on? Just come back. And we do. We long. I mean, the book of Revelation, he closes by saying, "Come, Lord Jesus, come."
Yeah.
And I understand our desire. But if God's timing was impeccable all the way through history, including the coming of Christ the first time, won't it still be impeccable when he returns the second time?
And we've got the big story, the meta narrative where we see God's impeccable timing, but we need to re also come down to street level where you and I live
and go that also is what is true of the timing of our lives. Right. And that and you're right, Suzi, and that's where it's hard sometimes to understand because we think and when it comes down to the street level, as you call it, we think we could do a better job than he could.
Yeah.
And the truth of the matter is he has got our lives in his hand.
So today, I don't know what's going on in your life. We know in our world there's some things that we wish God would speed up and take care of or some areas that we would ask that he would slow down on and maybe you're there too. I don't know. But just consider that throughout time, God's timing has been impeccable.
